Gaya, May 5: Havildar Vansh Bahadur Paswan, who shot dead one Kiran Devi over monetary issues yesterday, had a heated exchange around one-and-a-half months back with the woman.
Paswan had pumped three bullets from his official carbine into Kiran when she had again asked him to pay back Rs 20,000 yesterday morning. The woman succumbed to the bullet injuries and the havildar is still absconding.
Prahlad Sao, the husband of the woman, an autorickshaw driver, said: "The havildar had borrowed edible items and cash worth Rs 20,000 from the shop run by my wife in the past three-four months."
"He used to visit the shop and my wife often asked him to pay the money. But the havildar every time sought for more time for the same. Yesterday morning, we had to visit Nawada for marriage negotiation of our eldest daughter Poonam (19). When my wife asked the havildar for the money, he threatened to kill her. When she dared him to do so, the havildar pumped bullets in her body by the official weapon," Sao said.
He added that the death of his wife had spelled doom for the family."We both had to earn to run the family. I have five daughters aged 14 to 19 years. Now without their mother it would be difficult to run the family and also take care of my daughters," Sao added.
Police have conducted raids at many places, including his native place under Basudevpur police outpost under Munger town police station in search of the havildar but he is yet to be arrested.The police have informed the station house officer of Munger town and also Basudevpur outpost about the matter.
