Prangan, a cultural organisation, staged a Bengali play - Chanakya - at Kalidas Rangalaya on Saturday.

The event was organised in collaboration with the ministry of culture and the art culture and youth department of the state on the last day of the 31st Patliputra Drama Fest, 2016.

The play revolved around the ideologies and teachings of Chanakya and how they are relevant in the present day. Not an autobiography, it explored the tenets of Chanakya through a fictional story where a group of young people question his ideals.

Farewell party

Don Bosco Academy bid farewell to its outgoing Class X students on Saturday.

Around 500 students along with their parents attended the programme on campus. It started with a dance performed by Class IX students.

School director Alfred George de Rozario and principal Mary Alphonsa inaugurated the programme.

Addressing the students, the principal said they must venture into the new world with peaceful minds, faith in God and confidence.

Celebrating adolescence

The Parents Teachers Association of Notre Dame Academy organised an interaction on adolescence on Saturday.

The aim of the programme was to equip girls of Class VII and their parents with proper knowledge on menstruation.

A nutritionist and Unicef state coordinator Vrinda Kiradoo said: "Diet and exercise patterns during childhood and adolescence often spell the difference in later years. The peak of growth is generally between the ages of 11 and 15 years for girls. During this time, iron deficiency is the most common disease."

The session ended with a song.
