Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday inaugurated the Vijay Ghat bridge across the Kosi and announced construction of another flyover to boost connectivity, amid voices of dissent.
The structure, christened Baba Bisu Routh bridge would reduce travel time between Bhagalpur and districts like Madhepura and Saharsa.
It, however, would not be of much help for commuters, as approach roads are yet to be built. The problem in completion of approach roads lie on both sides of a key rail overbridge, which would connect NH-31 with Vijay Ghat bridge.
Nitish said the state government would develop Vikramshila Mahavihara. He also announced construction of a 200m-long bridge across a stream of the Kosi to provide link from Laokmanpur village with Vijay Ghat bridge.
There were also many who were unhappy. "Nitish inaugurated the bridge but it would hardly help as fate of the approach roads hang in balance," said Ambika Singh, a resident of Kadwa diara.
