Patna, Aug. 24: Chief minister Nitish Kumar today conducted a high-level meeting in connection with the flood and drought situation in different parts of the state.

The chief minister directed principal secretaries of the disaster management and the water resources departments to carry out aerial surveys of the affected districts and carry out relief work.

Nitish directed officials to ensure that people affected by the floods get foodgrain and other necessary things.

He also directed the officials concerned to check the extent of damage to crops owing to drought.

The district magistrates concerned have been directed to ensure relief to affected people and provide them with subsidy before the kharif season.

The chief minister also directed the officials of the agriculture department to prepare an emergency plan for the crops.

He added that there should always be an alternative arrangement for areas in which certain crops cannot be grown.
