Patna, Feb. 11: LJP supporters today burnt the effigy of Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar at Dinkar roundabout for his silence on the issue of late poet Ramdhari Singh Dinkar’s house, which has been allegedly usurped by deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi’s kin Mahesh Modi.
Kamal Parvez, the candidate of LJP from Kumrahar Assembly seat said: “We will not tolerate the insult of our Rashtra Kavi. He played an important role during Independence and his daughter-in-law Hemant Devi and grandson Arvind Kumar Singh is running from pillar to post for his house. Do you think they deserve such humiliation? Nitish Kumar is silent on the issue and has not spoken a word on this matter. This means that he knows very well that Sushil Kumar Modi is also involved in the matter.”
He added: “The deputy CM’s kin Mahesh Modi has refused to vacate the house despite repeated requests. They have approached everyone, from Nitish Kumar to top officials, to get back the shop but they have failed. Today they are helpless. They approached Nitish Kumar at his janata darbar to seek justice after the local police officials did not bother to look into the case but nothing has been done till now. The chief minister calls this good governance, I don’t think there is any.”
Earlier, LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan sat on a dharna at Raj Ghat in Delhi in support of Dinkar’s family.
Wakil Rai, another LJP supporter, said the party workers would sit on a hunger strike after 10 days if the matter was not resolved by then.
