Chhapra, May 21:A retired deputy superintendent (DSP) and his wife have been charged with alleged murder. Police are now in search of the couple who are absconding.
According to information, the sudden storm on May 18 caused some mangoes and litchis to fall off the trees to he ground. The following day, Sonepati Devi (55) and some of the children were picking the mangoes and litchis from the campus of the retired DSP Janardan Prasad Yadav.
This infuriated the retired DSP and he shouted at them to leave the campus. All the children fled but Sonepati Devi being deaf and dumb, could not hear the warning and stayed back. The DSP and his wife, Rekha Devi, thrashed the woman. During treatment at Patna Medical College and Hospital, she died.
