Patna, Jan. 9: The spirit of Rajasthan came alive in the capital today.
Bihar Pradeshik Marwari Sammelan, Patna Nagar Shakha, organised “Padharo Mhare Des”, where the residents of Patna celebrated the spirit of Rajasthani culture. New Patna Club hosted the event, which saw camel rides and kite flying from Rajasthan.
Everybody in Patna attended the event to soak in the feel of Rajasthan.
From the elderly to the kids, all fought the biting cold to reach the venue and ended up having a very special Sunday.
Bihar Pradeshik Marwari Sammelan made special arrangements for bonfires, which kept the people cosy and let them enjoy more.
Food and supplies minister Shyam Rajak, who inaugurated the event, said: “This is a good effort. Such events should be held regularly so that we get a feel of Rajasthan here in Bihar.” Rajak, along with Bihar Chamber of Commerce president O.P. Shah gave out prizes to winners in the solo dance competition organised at the event.
Anjani Kumar Sureka, secretary of organisation, said in the junior group, Arunim Sureka clinched the first position, while Niyati Tekriwal and Megha Agrawal came second and third respectively.
In the senior category, while Krishna Tulsyan was the winner, Anjali Tulsyan and Abhinav Sureka came second and third respectively.
A range of delicacies was on the platter to tickle the tastebuds of the people.
A mouth-watering array of dishes from bajre ki roti, bajre ki khichdi, dal bati to chaat from Benaras and chhole-bhature and pav-bhaji was offered to the visitors.
The other attractions at the event included kathputli dance (puppetry) and mehndi. The women and children at the event had quite a nice time. A bonus treat for the children who came to the event were the elephant rides and camel rides. The audience appreciated the Rajasthani dance performances on the cold Sunday evening.
