Patna: The administration of Sri Guru Govind Singh College, a minority-cum-constituent college of Magadh University at Qilla Road in Patna City, has demanded adequate security for the students' union election on Saturday apprehending trouble.
Both the counting and results will be declared on the same day.
Principal in-charge Brajeshpati Tripathi said he had written a letter to Patna district magistrate (DM) Kumar Ravi, Patna City sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) and the local police station requesting deployment of armed forces as a precautionary measure.
The letter was written on March 10 stating that the college booths fall under very sensitive category.
Brajeshpati said 4,746 voters would cast their votes at seven booths, adding that CCTV cameras will be installed at every booth.
The principal said the election would be held as per rules fixed by the University Election Commission and Lyngdoh Committee recommendations. "All officials have been instructed to conduct the polls as per the norms," Brajesh said.
Patna City SDM Rajesh Roshan said: "I have received the letter of the principal seeking deployment of police force at the college. We will provide adequate security. There is also an instruction from the Patna DM to install CCTV cameras in the college.
Roshan added: "We are also keeping a tab on Rameshwardas Pannalal Bhartiya Mahila Mahavidyalaya at Chowk Shikarpur in Patna City where there has been trouble for the past one week. We will provide adequate police force there too."
