Murder life term

Patna, July 4: Additional district judge Manoj Kumar today sentenced one Ashok Kumar Mahto, a resident of Patna City to life imprisonment.

The case dates back to June 1996 when Mahto killed a six year old boy, identified as Shinku and had disposed of his body in a jute sack.

Complaint

Patna (PTI): One Vinay Kumar Singh, chief of NGO Friends of Bihari, filed a complaint against external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj, Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje and former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Bharat Singh on Friday under sections 120, 124 and Information Technology Act 2000.

Cook injures 4 kids

Katihar, July 4: Four students of a government school sustained burn injuries after the cook, hired to prepare the midday meal, threw hot khichdi on them.

The incident took place at Mahila Village under the Salmaari police station area, the police said, adding that the cook was angry as some of the students had alleged that he was involved in stealing the rice meant for the school.

Arrest

Munger: One Amrendra Kumar Nirala, 42, a resident of Janata More locality of the Jamalpur, who had allegedly threatened the sub-divisional judicial magistrate, Mausami Singh, by sending her threat letters, was nabbed by the police on Saturday.

Criminal held

Patna: The police, on Saturday, arrested one Indress Ram, who has cases against him, lodged in several police stations, in and around Patna. He was involved in loots, snatchings, illegal possession of arms and other cases.

Accident

Patna: Four people were killed late on Friday night, in a road accident, which took place on the Hilsa-Fatuha Road in Nalanda. Angered by the incident, the locals blocked the road for hours besides disrupting rail traffic too.

Hospital

Patna: The third branch of the Patna-based Ruben Emergency Hospital will be opened in the Basantpur area of Siwan and will be functional from next month, authorities said on Saturday.
