Patna, Oct. 3: The BJP today said it would provide free petrol for the two-wheelers, to be given to 5,000 girls studying in matriculation and Plus Two.

On Thursday, the party unveiled its "charter of document" for the state. Among its promises were free scooties for the girl students, television sets for Dalit families, power to all villages for 24 hours and launch of new medical colleges.

To make their poll sop to the schoolgirls more attractive, the BJP today promised the free fuel for the two-wheelers for two years.

"In the event of the formation of a BJP-led NDA government, 5,000 girls passing out matriculation and Intermediate examinations in the first division would get scooties (two-wheeler). They would also be provided free petrol for two years," Sushil Kumar Modi told mediapersons at the Patna airport before setting out for the poll campaign.

Modi's announcement comes in the wake of chief minister Nitish Kumar's sarcastic comments on the promise. Nitish had yesterday asked who would provide the girls the petrol to run the two-wheelers.

"If we have decided to give the scooties, then nobody else needs to bother about from where the petrol for it will come. We would give petrol to those whom we would be giving the two-wheelers," Modi said.

Modi, a former deputy chief minister under Nitish, said the future NDA government would also provide free LPG gas connection to the below poverty line families and order a CBI inquiry into the alleged medicine scam of over Rs 100 crore when Nitish held the health portfolio.
