Women's protest

Halla Bol Abhiyan Samiti took out a procession on Thursday to raise their voice against bootlegging and crime against women, under the banner of rastriya Mahila Brigade, Durgadasta, and rastriya Yuva Brigade.

The procession, which started from the Machuatoli area and ended at Kargil Chowk, saw women protesting against the sale of liquor.

The women, hailing from areas like Machhuatoli, Bikna Pahadi and Musalampur, aggressively joined in the protest, which involved beating of utensils - thali peeto abhiyan.

They raised slogans such as ' Sharabi gunda hosh me aao nahi to apni jaan gawao (alcoholic goons, come to your senses, or else lose your lives)'.

The protest started from Panchayat Bhawan and covered areas like Hathwa Market, Bakarganj, Gandhi Maidan and Kargil Chowk.

Ruby Kumar, who was heading the protest, said: 'The main reason behind eve-teasing, rape, and several other crimes is alcohol. Bihar has been witnessing rampant sale of liquor and this has cost lives too.'
