The printing unit of Assembly of God Church School has been barred from supplying answer scripts to schools for the 2012 ICSE examinations after missing the deadline this year.
The unit, which catered to schools in eastern India, had been printing ICSE answer scripts for 25 years. It could not supply answer scripts even 36 hours before the start of ICSE 2011, causing panic among school administrators.
According to the agreement between the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations and the Assembly of God Church authorities, the printing unit was supposed to send all the answer scripts to every school at least 10 days before the start of the board exam.
“We recently received a letter from the council informing us about its decision to blacklist the printing unit of Assembly of God Church School. We have been asked to place our order for answer scripts for the 2012 exams with a Delhi-based agency,” said Nabarun Dey, general secretary, Association of Heads of ICSE Schools.
The Delhi agency has been supplying ICSE answer scripts to all the schools outside the eastern region. In the east, the Assembly of God Church unit was the sole supplier.
Assembly of God Church had cited a glitch as the reason behind missing the deadline. Sources said it had not informed the council about the problem or made alternative arrangements.
The authorities of Assembly of God Church could not be contacted for comment.
