l Super Division debutants Mohammedan AC came back from their 0-3 drubbing by East Bengal to register a scrappy 2-1 win over Eastern Railway SC at the Mohun Bagan ground Friday. Amar Ganguly and Nazib-ul Haq scored for Mohammedan AC, while Henry Odogo reduced the margin for Eastern Railway.
Mohammedan AC now have nine points from four matches, this being their third victory.
l Bansberia High School defeated Banpas Sikha Niketan 2-0 in a Hooghly zone match of the inter-district Britannia-Anandabazar Cup Friday. Bapi Sil and Subhankar Bag were the scorers.
In another match, at North 24 Parganas zone, Santpur Kundu High School accounted for Basirhat Town HS by a solitary goal from Sanjay Biswas.
l Forty-eight city schools will take part in a football meet being organised by Calcutta Police in association with IOC at Body Guard Lines from July 7. The final will be held in the third week of September.
l Eastern Railway and South Eastern Railway will clash for the title in the Dr. Bimal Kumar Chandra all India invitation (open) waterpolo meet at Azad Hind Bagh. In the semi-finals Friday, Eastern Railway beat Indian Life Saving Society 15-4, Nani Gopal Ghosh being the highest scorer for the winners with three goals.
In the other semi-finals, Supratik Mondal emerged the top-scorer with four goals for South Eastern Railway as they notched up a convincing 10-0 victory over College Square Swimming Club.
