Jitu, Rahi win gold medals

Pune: Incheon Asian Games gold medallist Jitu Rai broke his own record to claim the 10m pistol title for men in the 58th National Shooting Championship at the Balewadi shooting range here on Tuesday.

The Army shooter, who has been consistent in leading the charts of different events in the nationals, scored 202.3 to claim the gold. He broke his own national mark of 199.4 which he had set in the Munich World Cup earlier this year.

In the final of the women’s 25m sports pistol, Rahi Sarnobat beat Surabhi Pathak to win the gold while Anisa Sayyed got the better of Shreya Gawande to claim the bronze.

Mumbai: Chennai-based seasoned Railways cueist Rafath Habib advanced to the round of 32 in the Rs 1.89 lakh NSCI-BoI All India 9-Ball Open Pool tournament along with his teammates Faisal Khan and Siddharth Parikh.

Zurich: Fifa ethics investigator Michael Garcia’s appeal against the statement issued by ethics judge Hans-Joachim Eckert on his investigation into the 2018 and 2022 World Cup bidding process has been ruled inadmissible.
