Paradip, Dec. 28: After a year-long impasse, the Odisha government has started the process to resume project-related work at the Posco steel project site near Paradip in Jagatsinghpur district.
Senior state government officers visited the project-affected villages and interacted with residents on Thursday while promising to fulfil their demands on livelihood support and resettlement package.
With the interaction yielding desired results, authorities are optimistic about resuming the project work within the next fortnight.
“Talks with residents who are losing land and livelihood have ended on a positive note,” Jagatsinghpur collector Satya Kumar Mallick told The Telegraph.
“Two more rounds of talks would be held shortly to assuage their grievances and take them into confidence. We have decided to resume the project work during the second week of January,” the Jagatsinghpur collector said.
