
Bhubaneswar, April 25: Plus Three results of 320 colleges affiliated to the Utkal University were announced today.
As many as 12,251 arts students, 3,415 science students and 1,788 commerce students took the exam. Out of them, 90 per cent passed in science, 88 per cent in arts and 86 per cent in commerce.
Sandeepa Sathia, a chemistry honours student of Stewart Science College, Cuttack, topped in science with 88.13 per cent. Sujata Pradhan, a geography honours student of Narsinghpur College, scored the highest in arts with 91.38 per cent. Subhranshu Shekhar Panda, an accountancy honours student of Mathakargola college, scored 82.30 per cent in commerce.
Students from the Stewart Science College in Cuttack bagged at least five positions in the list of top 10 students in various streams emerging the best performing institution under the varsity.
Admissions
Students, who wish to take admissions in Utkal University for higher studies, need to register themselves at the e-admission portal of the varsity that facilitates admission into PG, MPhil/MTech and PhD courses.
The candidate has to fill up online application form to take the entrance test on www.utkaluniversity.ac.in on or before May 11 and the hard copy of the same application, along with necessary documents, must be sent to the respective head of the departments either in person or post by May 30.
The varsity authorities also spoke about a new "resource corpus" being introduced by them. The university has decided to provide Rs 1 lakh each to 15 faculty for research. Also four faculty will be provided Rs 2 lakh each to come up with out-of-box ideas that can be developed into a data or device for societal benefit.
A seed funding of Rs 25 lakh will be made for the purpose every year and this will be a permanent thing. "The project duration will be of 36 months and priority will be given to UGC-approved affiliated colleges of the varsity," said vice-chancellor A.K. Dash.
