Berhampur: Berhampur University registrar Shailendra Dwibedi was transferred and relieved of duty on Tuesday.

"Pratap Mahanty, head of marine science department, would take over as registrar till further orders as an additional charge," said vice-chancellor Rajendra Prasad Das.

Dwibedi, who had also been the in-charge comptroller of finance, had written to the chancellor for a probe into all alleged financial irregularities at the university.

The finance department ordered an inspection of the varsity's accounts on March 6, and the department ordered the local audit fund directorate to look into the irregularities.

Dwibedi issued show cause notice to the varsity finance section's senior clerk, Narendra Bishoyi, after he failed to submit records of the cheques and the bank drafts in favour of the varsity worth Rs 3.20 crore from 2014 to 2018 to the three-member directorate. Dwibedi had fixed the deadline on Monday and started disciplinary action after he failed to submit any record.
