Bhubaneswar, July 1: The demand of the Utkal University students for removal of registrar from her post will be taken up by the syndicate at its meeting on Wednesday.
Yesterday, a group of students had staged a demonstration outside the vice-chancellor’s office accusing the registrar, Banani Mohanty, of withdrawing vehicles provided to two senior officials.
She had held back pensions of retired employees for months together despite all clearances.
“The matter will be discussed in the syndicate meeting tomorrow and an appropriate decision will be taken. Besides, students should stick to their studies and stop dictating the administration on what it should do. If there are any problems in the administration level, it will be sorted out,” Das said.
Registrar Mohanty said that she had to withdraw the vehicles in the interest of the varsity. “The officials had never applied for availing the vehicle and it was being used in an unauthorised manner. A section of employees are against me, as I have objected to their slackness and taken-for-granted attitude. Not a single pension file is pending with me,” she said.
“The demands of the students contain nothing about academics. Instead, they relate to the grievances of teachers and non-teaching staff. The students are being backed by a few varsity employees and that is not proper,” said a senior teacher.
