Students soak in R-Day revelry - 66th REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATED WITH GREAT FANFARE

Delightful drills

Tiny tots of the Ruchika Preschool, Ganganagar, celebrated their annual day with an array of exercises and drills and music. Kids between the age group of two and five years used props and colourful scarves to present a spectacular show that emphasised on fitness. The little children performed a list of delightful drills, enchanting the audience with their innocent yet confident moves.

Children who attend the inclusive education programme in the school also presented a special item. Speaking on the occasion, principal Vimaljit Dua emphasised on the importance of overall development of the children.

Students, who excelled in various events, were awarded at the end of the show.

Painting and patriotism

The Regional Science Centre (RSC), Bhubaneswar, organised a painting competition for school children on the Republic Day. Sixty-seven participants from eight city-based schools participated in the contest that called 'Your favourite leader'. The painting competition was meant for the students of junior classes. 'We generally organise competitions for students studying in Class V and above. Involving students of lower kindergarten, upper kindergarten, Class I, II and III was a step to introduce the tiny tots to the various facilities and galleries at the RSC,' said Himansu Sekhar Satpathy, an official.

Republic Day

The 66th Republic Day was celebrated across all schools in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. Students of DAV Public School, Chandrasekharpur, took out a spectacular march past that was followed by house drills, patriotic skits, dance dramas and songs. More than 1,000 students participated in the event.

IAS officer Nitin Chandra, who is the principal secretary of the general administration department, was the chief guest at the occasion. He stressed on upholding the sovereignty of the motherland with supreme sacrifice and sheer determination.

Director of AIIMS, Bhubaneswar Ashok Kumar Mahapatra,hoisted the tricolour at the DAV Public School, Unit-VIII. Members of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), Bharat Scouts & Guides and the school cabinet members took part in the march past.

The chief guest emphasised on self-confidence, hard work and strong belief systems before engaging in any duty. The young and spirited students of the four houses - Shanti, Maitri, Kirti and Mukti - performed different cultural programmes on patriotism. All the participants received prizes for their co-scholastic activities.

Annual function

Sanjay Das Barma, the minister of technical education, inaugurated the annual function of the Shree Krishna International School, Malipada. The students of the school sang popular songs and also performed dance recitals that enchanted the audience. Students who excelled in various events during the last academic year were awarded on the occasion. In their address to the parents, the guests emphasised on the urgency of hand-holding and guiding students during their early years. The guests said it would help their impressionable minds to become better citizens of the country in the near future.
