Slum eviction

The civic body has issued a public notice for eviction of slum dwellers at Siripur to facilitate expansion of the airport.

Bhubaneswar: The civic body has issued a public notice for eviction of slum dwellers at Siripur to facilitate expansion of the airport.

Slum dwellers have been given till December 31 to shift to the municipal corporation's transit houses at Sampur. They will be rehabilitated in various affordable housing projects. The civic body also included names of beneficiaries of the Shanti Nagar Awas Yojna in the notice.

Around 240 families from three slums will be evicted for the expansion and development of a dedicated heritage corridor, while 296 families will be evicted from two slums at Satya Nagar. They will be rehabilitated at Shanti Nagar.

"We finalised the list after ground-level inputs. Eviction will begin before January 15," said a civic official.
