Bhubaneswar, Dec. 6: The municipal corporation will partner Hybderbad-based Krisna Institute of Medical Sciences to execute a health care network project.
According to proposal of the Rs 255-crore project, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, along with its private partner, will build a 400-bed multi-disciplinary hospital at Gadakana and add another 400 hospital beds at the community health centres in Kapilaprasad, Gadakana, Brahmeswar Patna, Rasulgarh and Bharatpur.
While there will be 100 beds at Kapilaprasad health care facility, Gadakana, Brahmeswar Patna and Rasulgarh will have 40 beds each and Bharatpur 's share will be 30.
The civic body will provide 45 per cent of the total 800 beds to the health care requirements of BPL families and cardholders under various social security schemes.
"This project has been approved by the department level monitoring committee. The proposal would now be put up before the planning and co-ordination department for final approval. The process is likely to be over by the end of this month and the work will begin simultaneously," said mayor Ananta Narayan Jena.
"A number of leading firms in the health care sector evinced interest in the project. We have invited request for proposal earlier in September and now planning to engage the Hyderabad-based firm for execution of the project," said civic body's deputy commissioner Srimanta Mishra.
Sources said the project got delayed since the civic body took time to find a suitable private partner.
