Bhubaneswar, April 17: Celebrities from different walks of life today cast their votes at polling booths across the city.
Chief minister Naveen Patnaik, who is contesting from Hinjili Assembly constituency in Ganjam district, cast his vote at Aerodrome UGUP School this morning followed by Ashok Panda, BJD candidate from the Ekamra Assembly constituency who cast his vote at the same polling station.
BJD’s Bhubaneswar MP candidate Prasanna Patasani went to the polling station at Nuasahi in Nayapalli with his family and cast his vote. BJP leader Biswabhushan Harich-andan and his son Pritiviraj Harichandan, who is contesting for Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha seat, cast their votes at a polling both in Unit-VIII.
BJD MP candidate for Kendrapara Baijayant Panda and his wife Jaggi Mangat Panda cast their votes at a model polling station behind Raj Bhavan within 30 minutes of the start of poll.
Congress Lok Sabha candidate for Cuttack, Odia film star Aparajita Mohanty cast her vote this morning at Saraswati Sishu Mandir School in Baramunda. Her son and film actor Babushan and her husband and former Odia actor Uttam Mohanty also exercised their franchise at the same polling station later.
Veteran matinee star Bijay Mohanty, who is contesting for the Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha seat on a Congress ticket, came with his wife former actress Tandra Ray to cast his vote at Naharkanta.
The hit silver screen pair of Sabyasachi and Archita chose to cast their votes in the afternoon when the queues had thinned. While Sabyasachi went to Aiginia polling booth , first-time voter Archita went to the Unit-IX polling station with her mother and sister. “I will certainly love to play a politician on screen but as of now, I am happy being an actor,” said Sabyasachi when asked if he harbours political ambitions like some of his contemporaries.
“Elections come once in five years. We must find time to vote for the right candidate,” said actress Anu Choudhary after casting her vote.
Former India cricketer Shiv Sundar Das went with his parents to Brahmeswar to get his finger inked.
