Police bust Angul gang, four held

Angul, July 10: Police busted a gang involved in laptop and mobile thefts in the industrial district of Angul.

Barnapal police said four laptops, one LCD TV, 10 mobile phones, two motorcycles and two cameras were seized from the thieves. Two receivers of the stolen goods have also been arrested.

“Four goons of the five-member gang have been nabbed. The kingpin of the gang, Rakesh Biswal, has been arrested. Others are Jogeswar Sundhi, Arun Sahu and Mohammad Ai. Except Sundhi, all belong to Angul. Sundhi is a native of Kamakhayanagar in Dhenkanal,” said police superintendent of Angul Satyabrata Bhoi.

Inspector of Banarpal police station Rashmi Kanta Mishra said first his team nabbed Rakesh in a minor theft case. Later, he was found to be involved in all these cases. A total of 21 cases of laptop and other thefts were reported at various police stations in the district. Rakesh’s father was a security guard in a private hotel in the area and Rakesh is unemployed. Mishra said the arrested had been forwarded to court today.
