Plus Two exam faces shortage of invigilators

Bhubaneswar, March 10: Invigilation of the Plus Two examinations beginning tomorrow is likely to face crisis due to the shortage of squads.

Following staff shortage in colleges, only 65 squad members have turned up for invigilation.

“We had a requisition of 300 squad members from various colleges.

“However only 65 had reported till yesterday,” said controller of examination, Plus Two council, Jasobant Behera.

Each squad has around three to four members who are deputed at various vulnerable centres to check malpractice. With just 65 teachers, there are going to be only 15 squads for 1,060 examination centres.

As many as 2,50,774 students will be appearing the exams tomorrow.

While 57,116 will appear for science, 1,63,047 will appear for arts and 23,134 students will appear for commerce. Similarly, 7,434 students will appear for vocational examinations.

Examinations will be held in two sessions from 10 am to 1 am and from 2 pm to 5 pm. It will continue till April 4.

The council has also denied reports that Plus Two examinations would clash with national examinations such as the All-India Pre-medical Test and entrance tests of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT).
