Bhubaneswar, July 17: Centralised manual counselling for lateral entry into pharmacy was conducted today at the College of Engineering and Technology (CET) here. A total of 81 candidates took admission.
“The counselling started at 10am and 81 students who had cleared the Orissa Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE)-2011 took admission. Everything was conducted smoothly. Many pharmacy seats are still lying vacant although I don’t have the exact number with me right now,” said Sitaram Mohapatra, vice-chairman of OJEE committee.
The first counselling result for this course would be published on July 18 on the OJEE website (www.ojee.nic.in). After this, all registered candidates have to update their choices as per their results. The second and final lists would be out on July 25 and July 30 respectively and can be accessed on the same website address.
The counselling for lateral entry into pharmacy and architecture was earlier scheduled to be held on July 16, but was deferred. The high court put a stay order on architecture counselling after the eligibility criteria for admission was challenged by the authorities of Ajay Binay Institute of Technology (ABIT), Cuttack. The next decision of the high court will come on July 22. Fresh dates regarding architecture will be notified through the OJEE website.
Counselling for MBA, MCA and engineering streams have already started. The online registration and choice filling for the first two courses will go on till July 19 and the candidates have to visit the nearest nodal centre during this time for verification of documents.
The last date for registration for engineering aspirants is July 31. Students have to report at a nodal centre between July 20 and 31 with the necessary documents. The final counselling result for engineering would be out on July 19.
In another development, 114 seats (second shift) of National Institute of Science and Technology, Berhampur, has been added to the existing seat matrix for engineering counselling under OJEE-2011. This move was made in accordance with a high court order on July 15.
Counselling for medical courses (MBBS and BDS) was conducted on July 14 and 15. The seats in all government medical colleges were filled up on the first day itself. At Hi-Tech (private) Medical College, five MBBS seats under NRI quota and 68 BDS seats, including 55 for general category students, are lying vacant.
