Panel clears three project proposals

The state-level single-window clearance committee has approved Rs 1,325-crore worth three investment proposals, including establishment of Odisha's first mega solar power plant with an investment of Rs 945 crore.

Bhubaneswar, July 30: The state-level single-window clearance committee has approved Rs 1,325-crore worth three investment proposals, including establishment of Odisha's first mega solar power plant with an investment of Rs 945 crore.

Mini ratna company North Eastern Electric Power Corporation has proposed to set up the 200MW plant.

A cement plant will come up at Kalinganagar, an industrial hub in Jajpur district. Usually, cement plants have been set up in the western districts and the Kalinganagar plant will be the first one in the coastal belt. Cement manufacture Chetinad Cement Corporation has proposed to set a two million tonne per annum capacity cement plant at Kalinga Nagar. A sum of Rs 232 crore will be invested in the proposed plant, said official sources.

The third project to receive the committee's nod was an industrial effluent processing, storage and disposal unit in Jharsuguda by Ramky Enviro Engineering Limited. The project was proposed to be set up for an investment of Rs 149 crore. The company already has a similar project at Jajpur.

The committee, headed by chief secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi, met yesterday to scrutinise the proposals. Padhi directed all the related department, district collectors and police superintendents of the districts concerned to extend co-operation for speedy execution of the approved projects.

Industries secretary Sanjeev Chopra informed the committee that the process to approve the proposals through the panel had been simplified and the approval deadline reduced to 20 days.

The state project-monitoring group also reviewed the progress of the ongoing missions. Representatives of various agencies placed the obstacles they were facing during execution of projects, and most of these were addressed at the meeting, said a senior official.

The meeting discussed the problems of encroachment and subsequent, land acquisition, shifting of schools and other service providers and various statutory approvals.

Representatives of companies such as the RSB Transmission, Aditya Aluminium, Odisha Power Generation Corporation, Odisha Coal and Power Corporation, Odisha Power Transmission Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Company Limited and Indian Oil Corporation Limited presented updates of their respective projects.
