Bhubaneswar: The state cabinet will meet on Tuesday to approve the proposals for changing the system of issuing caste certificates. Henceforth, MLAs will no longer issue caste certificates. These certificates will be issued only by local tehsildars and block development officers. A bill to this effect will be tabled in the next session of the state Assembly. Tuesday’s cabinet meeting will be the first one after the recent shuffle in the ministry. Bhubaneswar: The state government has asked the ministers to submit their property list by August 31. The property list will include movable and immovable assets named after them as well as their close relatives including their spouse and children. arlier, the state government had asked the state’s IAS officers to submit their property list as per the direction of the Centre. SC and ST development minister Lalbihari Himirika said: “I have already submitted the property list when I was the deputy speaker of the Assembly. I have no hesitation in submitting the property list again.” Sambalpur: Irate villagers of Majhipali blocked National Highway 43, which connects Rourkela with Sambalpur, on Monday demanding compensation for the family of a person who died in an accident. The accident took place on Sunday evening at Thelkuli Chowk, 40km from here. adanand Kabari (40), a resident of Majhipali who was working as a contract labourer in Bhusan Steel at Thelkuli, was going to the factory in a vehicle when a private bus dashed the vehicle at Thelkuli Chowk. Sadanand sustained severe injuries. He was rushed to Jharsuguda Hospital, from where he was being transferred to V.S.S. Medical College and Hospital. He died on his way to V.S.S. Medical College and Hospital. Bhubaneswar: The state government on Monday announced appointment of S.K. Lohani as nodal officer for the probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the alleged irregularities in the funds released for the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. The officer will coordinate with the CBI team’s investigation and provide information to the investigating officials.
