Angul: Hundreds of contractual workers engaged in Nalco plant gheraoed the office of the company’s executive director for six hours on Wednesday demanding fulfilment of their 35-point charter of demands. More than 7,000 contractual workers are working in smelter and power plants of Nalco. They have been demanding proper wage, medical facilities and basic amenities at their colonies. Their demands also include hike in minimum daily wages, canteen allowances, free medical facilities, bonus, renovation works at the workers colony and regularisation of job. Bhubaneswar: Former Prime Minister of Nepal Jhala Nath Khanal, along with a 10-member delegation, visited the state on Wednesday. He interacted with over 15,000 tribal students at the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences. Khanal highlighted the rich cultural, traditional and political contacts between the two countries. Bhubaneswar: An 11-month-old baby, admitted to Puri district headquarters hospital for treatment of burn injuries, died allegedly after a shot of injection. The baby’s parents blamed the attending doctor for the death.
