Online push to land job

Measures have been initiated to make the land allotment process and revenue collection system of the Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Idco) online to make it more transparent.

Bhubaneswar, Aug. 6: Measures have been initiated to make the land allotment process and revenue collection system of the Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Idco) online to make it more transparent.

Idco, which has 106 industrial estates across the state and plans to increase the number to 115, allots industrial plots or sheds to projects on lease basis and collects lease rents from them. It, however, maintains the plots or sheds.

The public sector undertaking has started initiation of the Automated Post Allotment Application and the Enterprise Resource Planning system. On Friday, it was decided to make the first phase of the system online by next month end.

Under the system, land allotment, management and monitoring of the allotted land, revenue collection, financial management and human resources management are to automated in the first phase.

Later, permission for mortgaging the allotted land, change of the name of a company, reconstitution of the board of directors of a particular company, sub-leasing and sub-letting of land and merger will be carried out online.

A database of all the industrial estates and the industrial and commercial establishments set up there will be maintained. So far, 3,556 units located in 106 operational industrial estates have been registered. Other units have been asked to register themselves with Idco. Chief secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi visited Idco on Friday and reviewed the working of the industrial estates, especially the newly developed nine estates.

Padhi directed the officials to strengthen land bank system under Idco. The state government has decided to set up a land bank. In the first phase, 1.42 lakh acres located in 25 districts have been surveyed, and of them, 1.22 lakh acres are found fit. He advised the officials to prepare a Geographical Information System-based data of identified land and make them available online, said an official.

Besides, the chief secretary also asked the officials to develop a computer-based online test system to recruit the Idco employees.

Apart from establishment and maintenance of industrial estates, Idco has taken up construction of an Odisha Bhavan in Chennai and a high-rise office complex in Bhubaneswar. Padhi instructed the officials to complete construction of these two buildings by October.

Idco is also setting up a plastic park in Paradip, aluminium park in Angul, seafood park and Infovalley Special Economic Zone on the city outskirts, apparel and food park in Bhadrak.
