New director
Bhubaneswar: Lalatendu Sadangi, former chief specialist surgeon of the Indian Railway Cancer Institute and Research Centre, has been appointed as the director of the Acharya Harihara Cancer Centre in Cuttack for a tenure of five years from the date of his joining.
Yatra delayed
Cuttack: Residents of the city and Bhubaneswar will have to wait a bit longer for the darshan of the scared log for the idol of Lord Jagannath. Sources said the timber was set to leave from Jagatsinghpur on Wednesday. However, the journey was cancelled due to delay in the preparations for the yatra.
Online promotion
Bhubaneswar: The state government has started promoting the Nabakalebar festival as a world event on interactive websites, mobile applications and social media sites. The IT applications for the purpose were reviewed on Wednesday at a high-level meeting. The website has been named as www.nabakalebara.gov.in.
Dismissal
Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday ordered the dismissal of vigilance inspector of Berhampur division Prabeer Keshari Tripathy following allegations of illegal encroachment on government-owned land. Tripathy had fraudulently taken government-owned land in the names of his wife and other family members.
Wi-fi service
Bhubaneswar: The much-hyped Wi-fi service will be available at the Biju Patnaik International Airport from June 1. The service will start prior to the Nabakalebar festival.
