Fraudster arrested

Bhubaneswar: The Government Railway Police (GRP) has arrested one person for allegedly duping three job seekers of over Rs 3 lakh on the pretext of recruiting them in the railways. According to sources, accused Utpal Ranjan Behera of Jagatsinghpur district was working as a private operator in ATVM (automatic ticket vending machine) at the general booking office of Bhubaneswar Railway Station. Though the machine was allotted to licensee P.N.V. Rao, a retired employee of the railways, he had engaged Utpal to sell tickets in the ATVM, violating norms.

AIIMS success

Bhubaneswar: Nipun Chandra from Odisha has secured fourth rank in the AIIMS entrance exam. The results were declared on Thursday. The 17-year-old is a student of DAV Public School, Chandrasekharpur. He aims to be a neurologist. 

Body found

Koraput: Police recovered the body of the 4-year-old girl who was reported missing two days ago. The incident occurred at Damanjodi in Koraput district. Local residents spotted the body and informed the police who have  sent it for post-mortem. The girl was was abducted on June 11.

Bhubaneswar: BJP president Amit Shah’s three-day visit to the state has been rescheduled to July 4. He was earlier scheduled to visit the state on June 22. Shah’s programme has been rescheduled to July 4, 5 and 6 in view of the forthcoming presidential poll.
