Balasore, Feb. 29: Police have arrested a 24-year-old man on the charge of uploading obscene photograph of a 25-year-old married woman on the Internet and threatening the victim and her spouse.

The police booked him under relevant sections of Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act and Section 66A of Information Technology Act.

The accused, Tarun Dalei of Kasafal village under Singla police station limits, has been sent to jail.

According to the police, Dalei had developed friendly relationship with the victim, who is also from his village. Since she knew him, he had free access to her house.

During his visits, he took some private pictures of the woman without her knowledge and uploaded them on Facebook.

When the woman's family questioned Dalai, initially he denied, but later admitted to it and threatened them with dire consequences if they decided to pursue the matter. The victim then lodged a complaint with the police.

"The accused confessed to the crime during interrogation," said the investigating officer of Singla police station, Prabhukalyan Acharya.
