Bhubaneswar, Jan. 25: Vehicular traffic between Sambalpur and Jharsuguda was paralysed on State Highway-10 for several hours as an irate mob blocked the road following the death of a factory worker in a road accident.
The angry mob damaged more than twenty trucks and tippers and injured several drivers and helpers. The road was cleared in the late afternoon after lathi-wielding police dispersed the mob.
According to police sources, the accident had taken place around 8am when a truck coming from the plant of Bhusan Power and Steel Limited located near Jharsuguda hit Nialamadhab Bhoi (22) at Khinda Chhak near Lapanga.
Bhoi, a worker of Aryan Ispat Limited and resident of a nearby village, was going to the plant in his bicycle. He was rushed to the VSS Medical College and Hospital at Burla in critical condition, where he was declared brought dead.
