Cuttack, Dec. 22: Three Indian Air Force (IAF) teams - Hawks (Surya Kiran), Advance Light Helicopters (Saranga) and paratroopers (Akash Ganga) - are all set to enthral the crowd tomorrow at the air show to be organised here along the Kathajodi river bed.

Hundreds gathered at the rehearsal venue today to catch a glimpse of the training. During the final rehearsal today, paratroopers led by S.S. Baig displayed a unique coordination and landing at Kathajodi riverbed from a height of 8,000 ft. However, the loudest cheer from the crowd was saved for Odia paratrooper Abhimanyu Mohapatra.

"It was good to see the response from people," said Mohapatra, who joined the air force in 1993.

However, ahead of the show, security of chief minister Naveen Patnaik has been intensified. Police decided to strengthen the security as a precautionary measure after the BJP threatened to protest against Naveen's visit to the city. There are also plans to increase the number of vehicles in his convoy, official sources said.

A senior official said over 40 platoons of police force would be deployed for maintaining law and order during the show that would be organised to commemorate the centenary celebrations of Biju Patnaik tomorrow.

"Strict vigil will be kept along the NH-5 as well other places near the venue of the show. All the officers have been asked to remain alert to thwart any kind of protest by any parties or individuals," said a senior police official. Naveen is scheduled to arrive in Cuttack for the show at 11.30am tomorrow.

Three special enclosures have been made for VIPs. "We have also made a seating arrangement for over 5,000 people at the Kathajodi river bed," said executive engineer roads and buildings division Pramod Nayak. Moreover, more than a lakh people can watch the show standing on the Ring Road.
