Bhubaneswar, March 21: Ed Sheeran's global hit Shape of You is making waves afresh - this time to the beats of traditional Odissi music.
A unique cover for the 4.25-minute video of the immensely popular song created by a group of youngsters in the city is taking the Internet by storm.
In the video, a group of five Odissi dancers are seen dancing at various historical sites here.
An initiative by Detour Odisha, a tourism start-up, the cover aims to take the historical traditions of Odisha to a global audience.
The group also hosts the weekly heritage tour, Ekamra Walks, with Bhuba-neswar Municipal Corporation. The idea came during one of their events.
"The architectural splendour of the Old Town of Bhubaneswar is a huge attraction for many. Also, a number of cover songs of Shape of You has been released and have become popular. We thought of giving an Odia touch to the song and in the process popularise the heritage of the state," said Kartik Aruda, one of the founders of the group.
Sulagna Jena has choreographed the video, while photographer Sabyasachi Jana shot it along with Vinay Pateel.
"We wanted to capture the early morning beauty of the city. The dancers began preparing for the shoot at midnight so that they could get ready by the time we started," said Jana, whot the video between 5am to 10am.
The video has been shot at a number of popular sites, which includes the Dhauli peace pagoda, the ruins of Sisupalgarh and Brahmeswar temple.
