Cuttack, Sept. 30: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik today called for speedy investigation of cyber crimes and atrocities against women and children in the state.
The chief minister was speaking on the concluding ceremony of the 64th State Police Duty Meet here today. He also unveiled a compendium on cyber crime and security, compiled by the crime branch.
"The state government has taken ample measures for the safety of women. Anti-human trafficking units have been established in all the districts. Our police force needs to be more prompt in handling such crimes in an effective manner," said Naveen.
The 100-page compendium contains detailed information that will come handy for cops.
Naveen also congratulated the police teams for rescuing over 2,500 missing children in Operation Muskan II in the state and outside this year.
"Modernisation of the police force is the top priority of our government. The state police made progress in investigations of cyber crime. The compendium released today will surely meet the requirement of the cops," Naveen said.
The additional director general of police (crime branch), B.K. Sharma, told The Telegraph that it is their second major work as earlier a compendium on crime against women was released in 2013.
"It contains various offences and standard procedures for investigations, which will be very useful for the cops," said Sharma.
As many as 160 participants representing 37 police districts of the state took part in the meet.
