Bhubaneswar, July 17: Young devotees used vibrant colours and painted their imagination at a two-day exhibition dedicated to the Trinity.

Over 150 students of DAV Public School (Pokhariput) organised the exhibition that concluded today.

Apart from paintings of the Trinity, the exhibition also had entries on the legends associated with the saga of Lord Jagannath and His culture.

Arpita Mohanty, a student of Class X, said: “We have heard many stories regarding the Trinity’s origin, the patronage of the Gajapati rulers of Puri for the temple and other historic narrations related to Kalinga, its rulers and especially Lord Jagannath’s association with it. Through this show we could paint our concepts on paper.”

Sayan Mahato of Class VII said the stories of Lord Jagannath were not only inspiring, but also full of human values. The tales of the devotees of the Trinity make us feel that if we have enough faith in the Lord, then we would overcome all kinds of stress.

Sai Stitam Mohanty, a student of Class VI, said: “Jagannath culture teaches us to love everybody. I have tried to depict this feeling in my artwork.”

Art teacher of the school Bijay Kumar Panda said that the show was never for competition or prize. “We wanted to showcase the imaginary ability of the students and offer them a platform to showcase their love and devotion for the Lord. The students started submitting paintings on July 15 and we arranged the exhibition yesterday. The show concluded today, as tomorrow the kids will be busy for Bahuda,” he said.

Another teacher Shakti Prasanna Mohanty said: “We are planning to make this art show an annual feature during rath yatra.”

The participants were from Classes III to X. All the entries received by the school authorities were displayed during the exhibition.

School principal Sujata congratulated the students for participating in such large numbers without expecting any prize. “We should implement the simple philosophy imbibed from the Jagannath culture in our own lives so that we can see more people happy,” she said.
