Cuttack, Jan. 7: Two unidentified persons robbed Rs 12,000 from a chemist’s shop in Mahanadi Vihar last night after trying to stab one of the shop employees with a sharp-edged weapon. The victim, Biswajit Behera, has sustained minor stab injuries.

The complainant told police that as he and his colleague were about to close the shop around 10.45pm last night, two persons in their twenties, came to the shop asked his colleague Prakash Mohanty for cough syrup.

“We were closing the shop when they asked for a particular brand of cough syrup. We told them that we did not have that brand. Then they suddenly entered the shop,” said Behera.

“One of them took out a knife-like weapon and attacked Behera. Behera was lucky to sustain a minor cut to his wrist,” said G.K. Ashish, the shop in-charge.

“Then the two took away cash from the counter,” Ashish added.Police have registered a case of robbery and suspect it to be the handiwork of some staff members.

The culprits seemed to know the shop employees, police said.
