Bhubaneswar, Nov. 17: Chandrasekharpur police last night arrested a man for stealing cars.

The police seized three cars from Manoj Kumar Patra, 30, who was nabbed from Niladri Vihar in the city.

Patra, a native of Nischintkoili area in Cuttack district, used to rent out these stolen vehicles to travel agencies. Police officials said one of the seized vehicles belonged to former minister Anjali Behera. The accused was sent to Jharpada special jail after his bail plea was rejected.

Inspector in charge of Chandrasekharpur police station R.N. Satpathy said Patra used to steal cars from in front of his victims’ houses or by fooling car drivers. “Patra had stolen an Innova car from our area on October 1 and we had been tracking his movements since then. Last night we arrested him from his Niladri Vihar residence,” said Satpathy.

The police said Patra stole the car of Durga Prasan Pattnaik, a city resident, in October, after luring him to a multi-storey building in Chandrasekharpur to buy the car.
