Monsoon session

Bhubaneswar: The monsoon session of the Assembly will start from September 7. It will continue till September 23 and will have 10 working days. 

Suicide bid

Bhubaneswar: As many as 15 candidates, including girls, on Friday attempted self-immolation in front of the Raj Bhawan here for an inordinate delay of more than 10 years in their recruitment as constables. The youths gathered in front of the Governor House and doused themselves with kerosene. Officials of Capital police station took control of the situation and rushed them to the Capital Hospital where they were detained for some time.

Murder cuffs

Nayagarh: The crime branch of Odisha police on Friday arrested four persons involved in the murder of four members of a family at Chandpur in Nayagarh district two years ago. The arrested persons were  dacoits hailing from Ganjam and Jajpur districts. Kasinath Patra, his daughter-in-law and two grand children of Shastri Nagar at Chandpur in the district had been killed in 2014.

Seminar

Bhubaneswar: World Trade Centre Bhubaneswar with World Trade Centre Taipei co-organised a seminar in association with Odisha Small Industries Corporation at IDCO Towers on Friday. The seminar aimed at improving trade and business with Taiwan.

Telemedicine

Cuttack: Health minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak inaugurated a tele-medicine centre at SCB Medical College and Hospital on Friday. The new technological establishment would benefit patients to avail treatment through video-conferencing.

Trust vote

Dhenkanal: Vice-chairperson of Dhenkanal municipality, Namita Behera, lost her trust vote on Friday. Twenty of the 23 councillors part in voting. Behera lost her seat as19 councillors voted against her.

Exhibition

Sambalpur: A photography exhibition was inaugurated at the City Centre mall in Sambalpur to commemorate World Photography Day on Friday. Sambalpur Photography Club organised the exhibition.
