Case to re-open

Cuttack: A local court on Monday granted permission for reinvestigation into the murder of pulse trader Mohammad Farooq who was shot dead in his shop at Malgodown area here in 2004. His wife had approached police and filed a fresh complaint against the Dhal Samant brothers over their alleged involvement in her husband’s murder.

Naveen plea

Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday urged the minister of civil aviation A. Gajapathi Raju to declare Biju Patnaik International Airport as the embarkation point for the state’s Haj pilgrims. In his letter to Raju, Naveen wrote that more than 600 persons were expected to undertake the pilgrimage this year and it would help them if their journey could commence from Bhubaneswar. At present, they depend on airports in neighbouring states.

Appointments

Bhubaneswar: Udala MLA Golakh Nayak was on Monday appointed the chairman of Mayurbhanj District Planning Committee while Nimapara MLA and BJD spokesperson Sameer Ranjan Das was named Puri District Planning Committee chairman.
