Bhubaneswar, Feb. 11: A wide range of products was on display at the India International Mega Trade Fair that concluded at Janata Maidan here yesterday.

The Bangladesh pavilions at the 10-day fair drew a large crowd. The Dhaka silk and Dhakai jamdani silk saris, priced between Rs 2,000 and Rs 10,000, were very popular. Their intricate designs spoke volumes about the craftsmanship.

Among other garments, graphic T-shirts were quite a hit with the youngsters.

A solitary kiosk also sold melamine crockery ranging from cups and saucers to dinner sets. “Such items are new to Odisha. The design and colour on melamine cutlery do not fade,” said salesman A. Mohammed.

Statues carved out of marbles and granite grabbed a lot of attention. Visitors also splurged on beds, dining and sofa sets, chairs and tables, cabinets, drawers and modular kitchens.

Kiosks exhibiting ceramic, granite and marble tiles were a favourite among those looking for renovating their houses. “Though people are buying our products, we are here primarily for brand building,” said Rajiv, the owner of a kiosk selling floor lamps.

Healthcare, beauty and latest electronic appliances filled up the lifestyle and electronic appliances pavilions. From LCD screens, ovens, music systems, computer accessories, treadmills to acupressure machines and herbal products, people queued up to buy these products.

Those looking for apartments thronged the real estate and housing finance pavilion. Several real estate agencies offered attractive options to buy property. Banks were also seen offering home loans.
