Painting competition

Scores of budding artists unleashed their creativity at a painting competition organised by Rotary Club-Rourkela Central in the Steel City on September 8.

The youngsters, mostly from schools, were divided into three categories – junior, sub-junior and senior.

Sand artist Sudarshan Patnaik, who was the chief guest on the occasion, encouraged the participants. Quite a few participants replicated the popular sand art of Patnaik’s in water colours, acrylic and oil paint on their respective canvases.

Prachurya Priyadarshini, a Class III student of Delhi Public School, won the first prize in the junior group while the painting by Ankita Parida, a Class VI student of St Joseph Convent School, was adjudged best in the sub-junior category. Among the senior participants, Bipasha Dutta, a Class X student, bagged the first position.

Tips for teachers

Teachers of DAV Public School (Chandrasekharpur), Bhubaneswar, attended a special session on campus to understand the changing role of teachers in the 21st century.
