Advisory to check cyber crimes

The state crime branch on Saturday issued a public advisory with dos and don'ts for citizens to protect them from become victims of cyber crime.

Bhubaneswar: The state crime branch on Saturday issued a public advisory with dos and don'ts for citizens to protect them from become victims of cyber crime.

Director-general of police R.P. Sharma released the booklet with guidelines and advisories to bring about public awareness in order to prevent cyber crime frauds.

An electronic public display has also been inaugurated at the crime branch building that will display these guidelines to sensitise people on the incidents. Besides, a dedicated cyber crime petition cell has also been opened to receive and register public complaints related especially to cyber crimes. "The advisory is meant to protect people from different kinds of cyber crimes. We have asked police stations to register such cases and investigate those by taking the assistance of the cyber cell," said Sharma.
