Cuttack, Feb. 26: The Odisha Public Service Commission is yet to find candidates to recommend for all the 69 posts of civil judges in the Odisha Judicial Service (OJS), selection process for which got over on Wednesday.
In the final select list of OJS-2015 examination notified by the commission, only 21 candidates have been recommended for appointment to the post of civil judges.
The commission had conducted the Odisha Judicial Service-2015 examination in three phases after inviting applications on March 15 last year.
The preliminary examination was conducted on September 9 and 752 candidates were declared qualified on September 29 to take the main examination.
The results of the main examination conducted in November last were declared on February 4.
However, only 21 candidates qualified for interview.
"Only those candidates, who satisfied the selection criteria by securing not less than 45 per cent marks in aggregate and a minimum 33 per cent marks in each paper in the main written examination, were called for interview," commission secretary Krushna Prasad Pati said today.
"All the 21 candidates in the final select list secured the required minimum 40 per cent marks in the interview conducted on February 22 and 23," Pati said.
There are nine women among the successful candidates. Manas Ranjan Padhan has topped the list, while Shantashree Mohanty and Sabyasachi Pradhan have secured the second and third position, respectively.
According to the requisition received by the commission from the state law department, of the 69 vacant posts, 24 were reserved for women, while eight posts were reserved for socially and educationally backward classes, 11 for scheduled castes and 15 for scheduled tribes.
The Odisha Judicial Service main written examination constituted of two compulsory papers - general English and procedural laws, and optional papers on any three subjects from law of crime & torts, personal law, law of property, law of contract and jurisprudence & Constitution of India.
