Kendrapara, Feb. 6: Three students of a Bhubaneswar-based private engineering college were killed when their motor-bike dashed against a stationary truck near Shyamsundar junction on the Paradip-Daitary expressway, about 5km from here, on the outskirts of this district headquarters township.

The deceased persons, according to police sources, are Debashis Jena, 22, Divya Ranjan Thatoi, 23 and Kumar Ankur, 22.

Foggy weather condition led to the accident as there was a drastic drop in visibility.

The mishap occurred during midnight hours. While two of the victims — Jena and Thatoi — died on the spot, Ankur, a native of Khurda, died on the way to hospital, police said.

The police have launched a drive to get rid of unauthorised parking of vehicles on the busy highway.

Since fortnight, dense fog has resulted to the rise in road mishaps
