Women's football meet

The 21st Senior Women's National Football Championship (North East Zone) will be held from December 18 to 23 at Kokrajhar District Sports Association (KDSA) ground here.

Kokrajhar, Dec. 15: The 21st Senior Women's National Football Championship (North East Zone) will be held from December 18 to 23 at Kokrajhar District Sports Association (KDSA) ground here.

Altogether six teams from the Northeast - Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh - will participate for a place in the top two.

Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh are placed in group A, while Mizoram, Manipur and Tripura in group-B. Secretary of Assam Football Association (AFA) Ankur Dutta told reporters today that the best two teams would qualify for the final championship at Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. Ten teams, two from each zone, will play in the final. The AFA also announced the names of the players for Assam team.

Goalkeeper: Anjana Saikai (Jorhat), Sashma Kachap (Baksa), Stopper-Sewali Moran (Dibrugarh), Bhabani Kumar (Rangia), Sabina Kispota (Kokrajhar), Right back: Barnali Moran (Dibrugarh), Mina Basumatary (Kokrajhar), Left back: Miniswrang Brahma (Kokrajhar), Rima Boro (Baksa), Mid-field: Sonia Marak (Karbi Anglong), Mamoni Karmakar (Dibrugarh), Pronati Basumatary (Kokrajhar), Ringkhangshri Boro (Rangia), Minali Borah (Jorhat), Kabita Wary (Kokrajhar), Forward: Maya Ramchiary (Kokrajhar), Ranju Moni Brahma (Kokrajhar), Sanila Basumatary (Baksa), Mridul Mech (Dibrugarh) and Dorothi Oreya (Dibrugarh). Manager: Gita Ramoni (Dibrugarh). Coach: Pranab Basumatary (Kokrajhar).

BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary is expected to be the chief guest during the inaugural ceremony.
