Agartala: Several exit poll predictions emerged on Wednesday with contradicting predictions of victory possibilities between the BJP-IPFT alliance and the Left Front.

The BJP emerged a major challenger to Tripura's ruling Left Front alliance in the Assembly poll process. The IPFT is a regional party floated in late 1990s over the demand for Twipraland, a separate state for indigenous communities.

With the poll results three days away, a web media organisation, Tripurainfo, has published an exit poll prediction, giving the CPM-led Left Front a minimum of 40 seats and maximum 49 seats in the 60-member Assembly.

They predicted that the BJP and IPFT alliance would win in 10 to 19 Assembly seats. The Congress, Trinamul Congress and other political parties wouldn't get any seats at all, the predictions said.

It added that the Left parties would win in 15 out of 20 Scheduled Tribe reserved seats.

Kok Tripura, a Kokborok cable TV channel, predicted the "possible outcome" in 20 Scheduled Tribe reserved seats of the state.

They predicted a victory for the Left parties in four to seven ST reserved seats while the BJP alliance was said to have victory possibilities in 13 to 16 seats. The Congress, Trinamul and others wouldn't make any dent in winning seats, the channel said.

Kokborok is the lingua franca of most indigenous communities of Tripura.

DinRaat, a local cable TV channel, predicted poll outcomes in collaboration with Tripurainfo.

NewsX, a national TV channel predicted a victory for the BJP alliance in 35 to 45 seats, 14 to 23 seats for the CPM and Left Front parties and one seat for "others".

Headlines Tripura, a local cable TV channel and others, said the "people's pulse" was in favour of the BJP. It predicted that the BJP and its ally would bag 54 per cent votes.

The Centre for Voting Opinion and Trends in Election Research (CVoter), a Delhi-based international polling agency, hinted at a close finish in Tripura and predicted that the CPM and Left parties would win in 26 to 34 seats with a 44.3 per cent vote share.

The agency predicted that the BJP alliance would win in 24 to 32 seats with a vote share of 42.8 per cent. The Congress might win in two seats with a 7.2 per cent vote share, CVoter predicted.

Reacting to the predictions, CPM spokesperson Goutam Das said these were "speculations". He declined to comment on the predictions and said his party would issue a statement after results came out on March 3.

Veteran Congress leader Tapas De told reporters that the CPM seems to be recovering from circumstances.

BJP state in-charge Sunil Deodhar said exit polls were not always "true".

However, the trend reflected was in favour of the BJP, he said, adding that his party would win with at least two-third majority in the polls.
