Kohima, March 26: Union minister of state for heavy industries and public enterprises Kanti Singh visited the Tuli Paper Mill in Nagaland’s Mokokchung district today to take forward Delhi’s promise of reviving the unit.
The Centre had given the go-ahead for re-opening the mill, which had been shut for 14 years, in November last year.
It will pump in Rs 552 crore to revive the mill by 2009.
Singh said she was aware of the demands of the management and the workers and her ministry had drawn up a revival package for the Nagaland Paper & Pulp Company by incorporating all the issues that could be addressed.
The minister called on the Nagas to come forward to achieve their cherished dreams of reviving the mill and urged the Neiphiu Rio government to improve the industrial map of the state and fulfil the aspirations of its people. She promised that the UPA government would continue to support the mill.
