Dibrugarh, April 1: Government Higher Secondary School, Karimganj, entered the semi-finals of the 2nd Dilip Sarma inter-district school under-15 cricket tournament, defeating Vidyapith Higher Secondary School, Barpeta by 106 runs in the third quarter-final match at the Chowkidinghee playground.
In the 30-overs-a-side match, Karimganj won the toss and decided to bat first. The team scored 153 runs losing six wickets.
Pramit Sen topscored with 64, while Sunny Ghosh made 14. Jitul Das picked up two wickets for Barpeta, giving away 21 runs.
In reply, Barpeta were out for just 47 runs in 22.1 overs.
Bikash Ranjan Das scored 18, while Nayan Jyoti Talukdar chipped in with 11.
For Karimganj, Samar Deb and Sadek Ahmed Choudhury took three wickets each for nine and 10 runs.
In the other match of the day, Goalpara English High School defeated D.N. Himat Singha English High School, Kokrajhar, by 55 runs at the Dibrugarh DSA outdoor stadium, to reach the quarter-final of the tournament.
In the 25-overs-a-side match, Kokrajhar won the toss and decided to bat first.
The team scored 109, losing nine wickets in their 25 overs.
Ratnajit Baruah scored 15, while Kapil Rava contributed 14. Khokan Ch. Pandit took three wickets for the opponents.
In reply, the Kokrajhar school was bowled out for 54 in 18.5 overs. None of the batsmen could reach double figures. For Goalpara, Kapil Rava scalped three wickets for 17, while Dhurbajyoti Das took two for three runs.
Gordon Higher Secondary School, Nalbari, will clash with Goalpara English High School in the last quarter-final tomorrow.
